Using an old smartphone or tablet, you could know who is at your door from anywhere in the world. The android device which is placed on you door, once connected to your wifi can locally host the stream coming from it's camera(without using your internet bandwidth) or could stream it over the internet so that you could watch it from anywhere in the world just by being connected to the internet.
